You're Not Fragile You're Neurally Unprepared
The road to recovery doesn’t have to be daunting, in a majority of cases with SQUARE 1 I’ve seen life changing moments happen in 5 minutes to 3 to 4 hours ranging from acute - chronic pains to stroke recovery.
We’re talking subconscious threat here. The less tasks perceived as threat to the CNS the less reason for the body to produce symptoms of pain, muscle tightness, weakness etc.. this is something you don’t have conscious control over. As more tasks are seen as SAFE instead of THREAT that’s how we neurally prepare the CNS & body for what it needs to do day in and day out. This task will change based on the individual. In extremes grandma needs to be prepared for walking up/ down steps and getting in and out of chairs, an Olympic level wrestler needs to be able to dish out and take countless collisions & scrappy uncommon positions. SQUARE 1 covers the full spectrum.
I don’t believe in sports specific movements I believe in human movement, shoulder external rotation isn’t exclusive to baseball players and football QBs. We just have different intensities and purposes for combinations of joint actions. Your brain is continuously putting together a plan of how to move you and executing it in real time. Things you’re not expecting will happen. Why not prepare yourself for the inevitable like tripping, coughing vigorously, shifting to the side when squatting etc.. give yourself safe options to fall back on while still under the umbrella of SAFE input to the CNS with SQUARE 1 . Who’s lived a perfect life so far? Nobody!
Coming back to injury & recovery. Their are some obvious cases like muscle tears and broken bones but when all of that heals why do we still move different, or takes forever to get back to where we were before the injury? Just because physically we have healed doesn’t mean we have healed neurally. Their is still potential to be reached. No one system is fully complete, however I believe SQUARE 1 is the closest we have seen.

Get to Know Me
I grew up an athlete playing backyard sports, organized wrestling in high school and boxing in college at Lock Haven University where I earned an All-American Title in 7 months. I've always been interested and involved in athletics and training so the opportunity to help other athletes avoid the pitfalls I fell into became a priority for me. How I got involved in bridging the gap of neurology and training, for that you can thank getting introduced to SQUARE 1. As a personal trainer in State College I volunteered to be the guineapig as my buddy Corey was learning the SQUARE 1 SYSTEM. It didn't make sense to me at first but it became clear after I was injured and all of my efforts to heal didn't work. I went through corrective exercise prescriptions, chiropractic care and saw a specialist for my back and hips. I exhausted these options for 6 months with little to no improvement. During this time period Corey was learning SQUARE 1 from Shawn Sherman, the man who developed SQUARE 1, when Corey returned home he stopped by the gym and I asked if he could see if he could help. I was out of pain in 20-30 minutes, I was completely baffled! How did you do that?!! At that moment I decided to get involved and its been a crazy ride thus far of tons of success stories on how I was able to produce similar and other crazy stories that have changed how people live their lives to massive changes in athletes and their performance. Since the introduction it has sent me into a world of curiosity, self-learning and collaborations with now many close friends. I've been reading, experimenting and continuing to refine how I apply neurology and training to get the most out of our efforts to improve. Athletic Performance
I teach athletes to understand positions before their weight training will begin. I will show them how to move weight in a traditional setting, how to decelerate or slow weight down and how to move weight fast. I've found this combo of training methods plus neurological reinforcement behind movement planning.
SQUARE 1
SQUARE 1 is a problem solving framework I use to help solve issues with how the brain expresses posture and moving. I use a pass/fail neuro response muscle test to read how the body responds to specific stress such as; breathing, squatting and walking. By clearing out different stresses that are showing a negative response we begin to peel back layer by layer of dysfunction and providing better resources for your body to self organize itself.
SQUARE 1 & Athletes
A common misconception is you have to have something "wrong" with you or be injured to go through SQUARE 1. Offering a more organized nervous system the whole system gets better at expressing movement like sprinting, jumping, throwing, catching, changing direction and other tasks athletes need to accomplish. I noticed that SQUARE 1 in combo with weight training has produced outstanding results with less bodily issues and overall performance.
SQUARE 1 & General Public
SQUARE 1 is necessary for anyone who breathes, stands, sits and walks. By building a neural resistance to your specific day in and day out tasks will help reduce our bodies need to express "protective symptoms" such as; pain, restricted range of motion, weakness and difficulty moving around. Just know you're not stuck with what you got.

The only condition we have had mixed results with thus far is spinal stenosis, from what we have found is one of 3 outcomes will happen.
